First, finding the right oncologist is overwhelming—patients must consider cancer type, insurance, location, and availability, yet current resources are fragmented across websites and directories. Many patients blindly accept referrals without evaluating crucial factors like communication style and emotional support, leading to high rates of dissatisfaction and care disruptions. Second, once treatment begins, the brevity of oncology appointments (17-23 minutes average) combined with poor patient recall (40-80% of information forgotten) means important symptom patterns often go unnoticed until they escalate.
Oncura addresses these problems through two AI-powered modules. The oncologist matching tool uses natural language processing to analyze doctor reviews and biographies, then ranks providers based on both practical constraints (insurance, location) and patient preferences (communication style, emotional support, experience). The symptom tracking module allows patients to log daily symptoms through simple sliders and optional voice journals, then generates a structured one-page summary highlighting trends for clinic visits. This design reduces search friction and improves patient-clinician communication without replacing human judgment or overwhelming providers with alerts.
